Hi all

This is driving me crazy, so I'd appreciate some guidance. Briefly, I am loading in a pre-existing Excel 2007 file, and looking to add some data in a couple of worksheets: just basic content row-by-row. The file I load contains things like sharedStrings and styles, and that's where I'm coming un-stuck, in terms of adding content.

Every approach I've tried so far results in a crippled file that has to be repaired by ...

Some days ago i finished my program that create *.doc file and fill it with paragraphs of text, tables, images and hyperlinks to external files. And now I want it to do the same in *.xls.
There are a few examples in SRC that shows how to create simple spreadsheet with numeric data or parse existed xls file. Can you show some examples how to fill different data into xls file?

I'd like just to take each line and column (x, y like a matrix) value in a String.
I haven't found any xlsx examples... if you have a simple one (or no), please recommend me.

I have added an XML-Map to an Excel-Spreadsheet (via the menu Developer->XML->Source) and mapped the elements to cells in my spreadsheet. The export function in Excel (Developer->XML->Export) gives me an XML file filled with the data from the cells the XML elements are mapped to.

Now I would like to do the same in my Java application with docx4j. Ist that possible?

I can see the xpath/cell mapping in the xlsx file in /xl/tables/tableSingleCells1.xml but ...

How could I get the unzipped directory of xlsx`s xml files?
I`d like to try to:
1)to compress it manually.
2)to modify some files without using xlsx4j.

Making cells with numeric values causes no errors at the opening file in the MS Excel 2007.
Making cells with numeric values causes error of unrecoverable content.

Do you have any ideas?

How could I group rows?
I`ve used PartsList to get info the structure of the xlsx file, containing row grouping, but I got nothing similar on the console.

* Write xls and xlsx files
* Write large (500,000 rows x 200 columns) files (xlsx)
* Write large files without consuming all memory (ie, it can stream)

Does xls4j fit the bill? If not, what does?
