After some time away from this project (and BTW I have gotten very good reviews from the first iteration), I'm trying to add more features to my pptx4j tool. I am starting with a PPTx as a template and using pptx4j to make custom and/or user-driven updates on the fly, generating a new PPTx.

I want to extract the slide xml from the pptx files and replace the texts. I had done it for docx and xlsx with apache poi but poi has a very limited support for pptx. My first problem is, I cannot typecast org.pptx4j.pml.Sld to org.docx4j.wml.Document.

How to get the reference to xml for each slide so that i can use my own logic to manipulate those xmls. suppose, my pptx has three slides, so i will be having three xmls /ppt/slides/slide1.xml, ..2.xml and ..3.xml. When attaching an existing chart to a slide and then saving it off, I was unable to open the slidedeck with out repairing it in Office 2011. I dug into the xml and found that boolean attributes in the newly serialized chart xml were coming out as 'true' and 'false' rather than '1' and '0'.

Has anyone else run into this?

I am on a project and I need to get all the text from a PowerPoint presentation.
I have read the documentation about it and I would get back txBody or paragraph.

I tried to use a home made traversal (that uses TraversalUtil.getChildrenImpl()) but it does not find any CTTextParagraph.
Thus I tried to use it with Shape and that's working. But not all CTTextParagraph are in such Shape...

I found that when I call the method, createImagePart of Object BinaryPartAbstractImage. In my console the type of my image will be print out? However I don't want it. Could I do something?

I will play with the PartsList again tomorrow with fresher eyes, but I have yet to find these relationships (/ppt/slides/_rels/slideX.xml.rels)...

Let me ask a higher-level question: I have a "placeholder" image in a powerpoint "template" that I am loading with data on the fly.
What is the best way to replace an image in the pptx? I'm thinking that I need these mid-level relationships to tie the slide to the image part within the pptx, ...

I'm looking for the possibility to do the pptx conversion to pdf for my application (java) and finally came to here (several reasons).
It's great that now docx4j can handle the pptx files, however when I started to look for my need I found that PDF conversion works just for docx files now (I'm about last nightly build):
org.docx4j.convert,.out.pdf.viaXSLFO.Conversion class simply is just for WordprocessingMLPackage documents.

My questions:
- am I correct regarding no ...
