docm files : cannot be opened after edition

My template is originally a 2003 doc with macro. I saved it under 2007 with macro (.docm) file.
My edition seems to go through but Word cannot open the document.

If I do the same edition with the same template saved as .docx, the generated document is readable.

Has anyone experienced this ?

I just did a simple test, opening a docm with docx4j, and saving it again under a different name.docm

Word 2007 could open it fine.

What happens if you try the same with your docm (ie no edits)?

If it works, then we need to look at the particular operations you are performing in docx4j.
